CBS Co-op adjusts brand to Combined Building Supplies (CBS), has grown to over 2,000 members and soft launches into the Gold Coast of Australia.

CBS remains committed to reducing costs for members through collective buying power, providing upfront discounts, annual rebatesfor for eligible Shareholder members, and networking opportunities.

CBS Co-op has grown to nearly 1,800 shareholders and established partnerships with over 30 suppliers nationwide.

A major structural change occurred with the termination of the Management Agreement between CBS Management and CBS Co-op.

This move streamlined operations, allowing CBS Co-op to operate independently.

Carl Taylor was appointed CEO, and Simon White became CFO.

  August 2022  


CBS Co-op grew to nearly 900 member-shareholders and set an ambitious goal to expand to over 10,000 members in the next decade.

The co-operative continued to negotiate supply agreements with various merchants and service providers to secure better discounts and rebates.

Placemakers was added as second nationwide general merchant offering group home builder price discounts to all CBS Co-op Members

Co-founder Carl Taylor received the Co-operative Leader of the Year award, recognizing his leadership in establishing CBS Co-op and supporting SME builders.

CBS Co-op secured a key agreement with Bunnings Trade New Zealand, giving members nationwide access to group home buying rates across Bunnings’ stores.

CBS Co-op was officially launched in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The co-operative aimed to empower small to medium-sized builders and trade businesses by leveraging collective purchasing power for better pricing on materials and services.

Nearly 200 building companies, landscapers, and tradespeople joined in its early days.

CBS hold a “builders night” to dicuss the concept and gauge interest.

  June 2017  


The five founding directors—Carl Taylor (CEO), Simon, Mike, Karen, and Ian—met for the first time in a Christchurch café to discuss the concept of CBS Co-op.
